Mialise Carney

Mialise Carney is the author of the forthcoming short story collection What Girls Do Online & other stories (University of Nebraska Press ’27), which won the 2026 Raz/Shumaker Prairie Schooner prize for fiction and was a finalist for the AWP Grace Paley fiction prize. Her short fiction and essays have appeared in swamp pink, Fugue, Mid-American Review, Booth, Washington Square Review, and other places. She is an editorial assistant at The Cincinnati Review, an assistant editor at Nerve to Write and reads annually for The Best of the Net. An alumna of the 2025 TinHouse summer workshop and 2026 Juniper Writing Institute, she is currently studying for her PhD in creative writing & literature at the University of Cincinnati where she teaches writing.
